Jeannie Rice is a longtime American distance runner (born in South Korea) who began setting American records and World records after she turned 70.

In 2023 and 2024, she set world records for females 75-79 in distances from the mile to the marathon.

Rice, a retired realtor, splits her time between Ohio and Florida, and travels frequently to major competitions (especially marathons) around the globe.

In February, 2025, she was featured in an academic research paper titled "A case report of the female world record holder from 1,500 m to the marathon in the 75+ age category." It is available for free in its full text version.

The paper concluded that Rice had a relatively modest running economy, but a very high vo2 max. This might explain why she was able to conquer track running in her mid-70s even though she had never done it before. It also matches the physiological profile of marathon great Joan Benoit Samuelson.

Rice hopes to continue her strong running and racing regimen into her 80s and beyond. "There's nothing special about me," she likes to say. "I have just been very consistent in my training through the years."
